We all react differently to stressful situations. What one person finds stressful another may not at all. Almost anything can cause stress and it has different triggers. For some people, on some occasions, just thinking about something, or several small things that accumulate, can cause stress.



The most common causes of stress are:

•    Bereavement 

•    Family problems

•    Financial matters

•    Illness
•    Job issues

•    Lack of time



•    Moving home 

•    Relationships (including divorce)

•    Conflicts in the workplace 

•    Miscarriage

•    Retirement

Symptoms of Stress
Stress is difficult for scientists to define because it is a highly subjective phenomenon that differs for each of us. Things that are distressful for some individuals can be pleasurable for others. We also respond to stress differently. Some people blush, some eat more while others grow pale or eat less.



The common Symptoms of stress are:

•    Headaches, other aches and pains

•    Sleep disturbance, insomnia

•    Upset stomach, indigestion, diarrhoea

•    Anxiety

•    Anger, irritability

•    Depression

•    Fatigue

•    Feeling overwhelmed and out of control

•    Feeling moody, tearful

•    Difficulty concentrating

•    Low self-esteem, lack of confidence

•    High blood pressure

•    Weakened immune system

•    Heart disease
